Proudly
featured in our logo, Athenaeum Hall is a nineteenth century
Saxonville historical landmark. Its storied past includes use
as a polling place, jail, hospital, school, newspaper press
room for The Saxonville Mirror, and as a hall for wedding
receptions, religious services, veterans' meetings, plays, lectures,
sporting events, and dances.
The
Friends of Saxonville are actively working on physical restoration
of the building and returning it to active commercial and community
use.
With
a fresh coat of paint in its original colors of chocolate and
cream, the FOS renovation of Saxonville's landmark building
has reached a very visible milestone. Renovations to the first
floor interior are underway.
